Field of Application: Forestry and Agriculture

Geographic information systems (GIS) and special mobile applications for forestry and agriculture support mobile and smart farming. The management of cultivated areas and the storage of data sets, such as harvest results or fertilizer inputs, are efficient and available on site at any time. Area surveying with GPS support and parallel driving assistant are two further keywords for the use of mobile hardware solutions in this area.

The acceptance of mobile and rugged tablet PCs in forestry and agriculture is increasing. Normal notebooks and conventional mobile solutions can only be used to a limited extent in the field due to their sometimes uncomfortable handling. Ergonomics and good readability are particularly important when mobile devices are used.

Mettenmeier's rugged PCs, such as the Getac F110 or V110, guarantee ideal readability with a large display. This is very important when working with large amounts of data such as aerial photographs, field maps or cadastral maps, as small locations or details often have to be checked and supplemented.

A large working memory and a high storage capacity are also necessary for forest inventories, as there are many attributes for areas and individual trees.

The extreme sturdiness of Mettenmeier's equipment is another important feature for field work and all weather conditions, e.g. external mapping in the field of forest ecology.

The devices are operated both via conventional office applications and via the use of special software, with the active pen or with your fingers (Multi-Touch). Its numerous interfaces enable the extensive use of peripheral devices such as GNSS receivers and many more.
